The Department of Health (DOH) had recorded 4,933 newly-reported coronavirus cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. of August 22, 2020.
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. today.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #161 dated August 22, 2020, the Department of Health reported 4,933 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 187,249.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Saturday were reported based on the total tests done by 97 out of 109 current operational laboratories. Moreover, 3,702 out of 4,933 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days — from August 9 to 22.

In addition, the Department of Health reported 69,362 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #161 dated August 22, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 22 only: Metro Manila with 2,845 new cases, Cavite with 461 new cases, Laguna with 288 new cases, Rizal with 167 new cases, and Bulacan with 152 new cases.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 436 newly-reported recoveries and 26 newly-reported fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 114,921 and total coronavirus deaths to 2,966.
