Former PTV-4 employee’s revelations about the network
Jules Guiang, a former employee of PTV-4, a government-owned TV station, has revelations about the People’s Television Network.
In a lengthy post on his Facebook page, he shared his journey in the government-operated network where he worked for 8 years.
According to him, it was in 2012 when he started working at PTV-4 – the TV station where ABS-CBN broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez started her career.
But in the midst of his post, he revealed that there are employees in the station that have been working for more than a decade but not regularized.
He added that every 3, 6, or 12 months, at least 400+ contract-of-service employees prayed that their contracts would be renewed.
He believed his being “stubborn” and “hardheaded” jeopardize his career; from “speaking up against PNoy about SAF, being impassioned that ‘rape is not a joke,’ saying that Mocha Uson is a disaster, stood up against the Tulfos, and lately, speaking truth to power by blasting the hypocrisy of those 70 lawmakers who chose to deny ABS-CBN’s franchise – and cited that most of their workers weren’t regularized.”
He “had hopes of seeing PTV-4 similar to BBC of Britain wherein there is editorial independence.”
In the last part of his statement, he’s hoping for the regularization of his fellow employees.
He then thanked his fellow workers whom he considered as “family.”
