Martin Nievera Reveals Pops Fernandez Was Courted by His Best Friend Gary Valenciano
MARTIN NIEVERA – The Concert King revealed that Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano is one of then suitors of his ex-wife, singer Pops Fernandez.
Among the most prominent personalities in the Philippine music industry are Concert King and Queen Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez and Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano. They have a lot of songs that continue to hook people until now.
Martin and Pops became the best of friends and then a couple who eventually married on June 28, 1986. They have two (2) sons – Robin and Ram. They separated in the ’90s but are good friends until now.
Two (2) years prior to Martin settling down, Gary Valenciano married Angeli Pangilinan last August 6, 1984. They are happily married until now with three (3) grown-up children – Gab, Paolo, and Kiana.

Recently, in an episode of CSTV Straight Talk, the “Trulili and Witchikels”, hosted by Jaya, Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano was asked if there’s a time they like the same girl. They both affirmed it and revealed it’s Pops Fernandez.
According to Gary, he had a crush on Pops but he did not know that Martin was already in love with her. As for the Concert King, he did not expect that he and Pops will fall in love with each other as they were really friends then.
“That time, we were just friends. In fact, she would talk to me about all her suitors and you (Gary V) were one of them,” Martin said based on the article.
Martin even told Gary V that he was the “best dancer” of all the suitors of Pops. Both of them also revealed that they’re actually talking when they found someone beautiful or about their perspectives towards a person.
When it comes to crushes, both Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano have a crush on the same girl until now – Broadway actress-singer Lea Salonga. They both love her.
