The Department of Health (DOH) reported new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Philippines as of today, July 22, 2020.
According to DOH’s COVID-19 Case Bulletin #130 dated July 22, 2020, the Department of Health reported 1,594 new COVID-19 cases wherein 750 were classified as “fresh” cases and the remaining 844 were identified as “late” cases. This brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 72,269.
According to the Department of Health, the newly-confirmed cases on Wednesday were reported based on the total tests done by 78 out of 89 current operational laboratories.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 342 new recoveries and six additional fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 23,623 and total coronavirus deaths to 1,843.
Moreover, the Department of Health reported 46,803 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #130 dated July 22, 2020.
The Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of coronavirus cases as of July 22 only: Metro Manila with 971 new cases, Cebu with 252 new cases, Zamboanga del Sur with 53 new cases, Negros Occidental with 35 new cases, and Rizal with 26 new cases.
