Statement of Angel Locsin Following House Committee Junking ABS-CBN’s Franchise Bid
ANGEL LOCSIN – The Kapamilya actress spoke at the vigil held by ABS-CBN network following its franchise denial.
The House of Representatives Committee on Legislative Franchises voted on the franchise bid of the ABS-CBN network yesterday, July 10. With a 70-11 voting, the network was denied of a new franchise.
Seventy (70) members of the voting panel did not agree on giving the Kapamilya network a new 25-year franchise while eleven (11) believe the network must be given a franchise. One member inhibited and another one abstained from voting.
It’s been more than two (2) months now since the ABS-CBN broadcast operation went off-air. The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) released a Cease and Desist Order against the network over its expired franchise.

Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin is one of those who are vocal in her support and belief to the ABS-CBN network. She’s also one of those who attended the vigil held by the network at their compound in Quezon City after the House denied it of a franchise.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Angel Locsin spoke at the vigil and encouraged unity among the people in the Kapamilya network. She admitted that she is mixed emotions over what happened.
“Sa dami ng gusto kong sabihin, hindi ko alam kung ano ang uunahin ko. Sa dami ng nararamdaman ko ngayon, hindi ko alam kung paano isigaw,” the actress said.
According to the report, Angel encouraged the people there that it is not the time to be silent. She stressed that it is the time to unite and show that the network is really relevant to the industry more than just the entertainment they provide.
Angel Locsin stressed that the vote is not just about the Lopez family, the founder of the network. According to her, it is about the employees working in the network and those reached by its services.
“Huwag ho sana natin hayaan na dito na lang po matatapos ang ABS-CBN,” the actress said.
