Batangas Rep. Vilma Santos Breaks Silence Following ABS-CBN Franchise Bid Denial
VILMA SANTOS – The Batangas 6th District Representative admitted that she’s surprised by the 70-11 voting on the ABS-CBN Franchise bid.
A lot of people were left saddened by the denial of the franchise bid of the ABS-CBN network. More than ten (10) thousand employees are now at risk of losing their jobs.
Prior to the House Franchise Committee giving a verdict on ABS-CBN‘s bid yesterday, the broadcast operation of the network went off-air for more than two (2) months already.
The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) released a Cease and Desist Order against the network. It immediately placed its broadcasting operating on off-air.

A lot of people showed support to ABS-CBN amid the issues being thrown against the network. Twelve (12) hearings were held before the House Committee voted on their franchise bid.
One of the authors of the bill that proposed a franchise for ABS-CBN is actress-turned-politician Vilma Santos-Recto. Prior to the voting, she expressed her hope that her fellow lawmakers will vote based on fairness and clean judgment.
Yesterday, seventy (70) members of the voting panel favored the denial of a franchise to ABS-CBN. Eleven (11) expressed their stand that the network must be given a franchise.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Batangas Rep. Vilma Santos-Recto admitted that she’s surprised by the 70-11 voting on ABS-CBN’s franchise bid. According to her, the national agencies proved that the network has no violation.
“Biglang, bakit kami kumonti ng ganito na lang? Very significant naman na bigla na lang kami naging 11. May mga ganyang palakad na kung minsan ay hindi natin basta matatanong o makikuwestiyon,” Santos said based on the report.
Vilma Santos stressed her point that if ABS-CBN got shortcomings, it can be corrected and there is a due process but not to the point of closure. She admitted that finds it hard to absorb it now.
Meanwhile, the Batangas Representative is “optimistic” that they can refile later on. She stressed that the network’s journey will not end here.

Kung hindi na nagmatigas ang ABS-CBN at naglabas pa ng mga kasinungalingan at kung sa umpisa pa lang naging tapat ang mga Lopez at ang mga tauhan nito at hindi na rin nagsalita ang mga artistang hindi marunong mag-isip ng tama, sana hindi na umabot sa ganito ang sitwasyon.
Noong bago pa lang naghearing maraming supporter sa congrss ang abscbn ngunit sa kalaunan marami ng hearing at naungkat na ang napakaraming violations nagsibaliktaran na ang karamihan. Isa na dyan si cong Salo winidthraw nya ang kanyan sponsorship sa pagbibigay ng franchise ng abscbn.
Ms. Vilma Santos kung alam mo maraming tao nahihirapan at maraming wala trabaho ibigay nyo ang big help nyo. Sa tagal nang serbisyo nyo malamang may mga business kYo na pwede nyo bigyan ang iba mga staff lalo na ang mga non-skilled. Marami kayo artista naka-help naba kayo sa iba o talagang kami lang mamayan ang naka-help sa inyo. dahil sa aming manood nang mga movies nyo kayo mga Arstista.. butuhan kami pa rin mmayan ang naka-help sa inyo now its time para sa amin o mga kababayan na need nang help nyo bawasan nyo naman yung naitulong namin sa inyo sa pamamagitan boto nang mamayan sa inyo.. kung usapan abscbn dapat noon palang nag help na kayo bigyan nyo advice ang mga namumuno sa abscbn na ayusin nang maaga pa 2019 napag-usapan na yan abscbn at infairness alam din nila na may problema na abscbn pero ano ginawa binalewala instead kinutya pa nila at binastos ang ating PRRD. NA hinde kaila na alam nyo rin very well..
