The House panel is set to meet on Friday, July 10 to wrap up the hearings on the renewal of the ABS-CBN franchise and to give the final decision whether to approve or deny its petition for a legislative franchise.
The Committee on Legislative Franchises joins the Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability in giving final verdict on the ABS-CBN franchise.
On Thursday, Bayan Muna Party-list Carlos Zarate delivered the summation of the authors of the bill who seeks to grant 25-year franchise for the Kapamilya Network.
On the other hand, Sagip Party-list Representative Rodante Marcoleta– who has been critical against ABS-CBN, gave the summation of the opposing party.
The opposing side claimed that ABS-CBN has committed the following violations; citizenship of network owner Gabby Lopez III, labor practices, alleged improper tax payments, use of Philippine Depositary Receipts (PDRs), and about digital operations of the network using AMCARA Broadcasting Network franchise even though it is illegal.
