Students and teachers in Pasig City received a surprise from Vico Sotto
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has this surprise for students and teachers as part of his birthday celebration.
Vico previously stated in his Twitter post that he discourages anyone to organize a surprise birthday party for him. He said that he is not fond of parties. His most important reason is that mass gathering is still not allowed amid the pandemic.
However, that did not stop his family, friends, constituents, and fans to greet him for his 31st birthday. Even baby Talitha Sotto, his youngest sister and daughter of Vic Sotto and Pauleen Luna, shared a video greeting for him.
Although Vico Sotto did not want a surprise birthday party for himself, he was the one who gave a surprise to all the students and teachers in Pasig City.
“Sa larangan ng edukasyon, nakahanap po tayo ng P1.2 billion para sa ating pampumblikong paaralan para sa mag-aaral mula sa elementarya hanggang sa senior high school — mga tablets, iba sa kanila, laptops,” the young mayor said during a Facebook Live on June 17.
He also said that ICT students will especially benefit from this program and that included their teachers.“Bibigyan po ng pamahalaan ng Pasig ng mga tablets, laptops at mga learning devices,” he added.
Based on the article from Philippine Star, Mayor Vico Sotto has previously expressed that his administration will not let the students and the learning system to suffer amid the discouragement of the Department of Education to do physical classes.
“In case of virtual classes, we are preparing better Internet connections at the barangay level where students can download the modules,” he said in a previous statement.
