Kaitlin Rust, a broadcaster of WAVE 3, an affiliate station of NBC, suffered minor injuries after a police officer apparently shot her and her colleague using rubber bullets.

Earlier, massive protests inflamed the city following the controversial death of George Floyd.

Meanwhile, Rust shooting is currently making rounds online after it was posted on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, hitting more than 1.5 million views as of posting.

The video also generated mixed reactions and numerous retweets with some blasting the police officer who shot the TV reporter.

Watch the shooting in the video provided below:

Kaitlin Rust can be heard in the earlier part of the video, screaming: “I’m getting shot!”

Her shouting prompted concern among the in-studio anchors who asked: “Katie, are you OK?”

“Rubber bullets!” she said. “It’s OK. It’s those pepper bullets,” she later on amended.

She also said that the “police” is directly hitting them.

According to a statement of WAVE 3 which was published on Yahoo News, Kaitlin Rust who is accompanied by her videographer, James Dobson was standing behind the police line and not interfering with the officers when they did the live broadcast.

“There is simply no justification for the Louisville police to wantonly open fire, even with pepper balls, on any journalists under any circumstances,” Ken Selvaggi, WAVE 3 News General Manager said.

On the other hand, Louisville police admitted that one of their policemen fired at the TV reporter and her colleague. They are going to investigate the incident as well.
