Pinay beats cancer years ago and now COVID-19
Brenda R. Fondevilla, a Pinay cancer survivor who works as a doughnut store manager in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) defeated coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.
The 46-year-old overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who hailed from Digos, Davao del Sur survived breast cancer years ago, overcome the second threat on her life, the coronavirus disease.
It was on June 10 when she was found out positive for COVID-19 but after undergoing subsequent swab testing on June 12 and 16, the results came out negative.
The Pinay survivor started working in UAE in 2005. Her husband- who now works as a tricycle driver was a former OFW in Dubai.
“Hindi ako natakot. Galing nga akong cancer. Wala naman akong nararamdamang kakaiba,” she said.
According to her statement in a report published by GMA Network, her battle against COVID-19 began when her housemate named Jennifer Tolentino Trinidad, a saleslady, was found out positive of the dreaded disease.
Trinidad was tested positive for COVID-19 twice, few weeks ago after she returned to her job following the loosened restrictions in their area.
“Bago kami nagbukas, pina-test kami ng management for COVID-19 kasi yun po ang patakaran ng Abu Dhabi Municipality,” Trinidad stated.
Based on her statement, she was tested negative in the first round of swab testing but on the second time around, her result turned out positive.
However, she is not sure whether where she got the infection either from commuting to work or at the shop.
She then underwent two subsequent swab testing for COVID-19 and her result turned out negative.
The flat where they are staying house four occupants including Trinidad and Fondevilla. The two other housemates were tested and fortunately, their results were negative.
They are undergoing a 14-day quarantine as of posting.
