DOH Reports Over 1,000 New Cases Of Coronavirus Disease In One Day

DOH reported over 1,000 new cases of coronavirus disease in just one day.

The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday reported over 1,000 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in just one day.

This, as the Department of Health reported 1,150 new COVID-19 cases wherein 789 were classified as “fresh” cases and the remaining 361 were classified as “late” cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 31,825 as of 4:00 p.m. of June 23, 2020.

For “fresh” cases, 207 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 288 were from Central Visayas, and the remaining 294 came from different areas in the Philippines. On the other hand, for the “late” cases, 110 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 32 were from Central Visayas, and the remaining 219 were from different areas in the Philippines.

According to the Department of Health, the fresh cases recorded on Tuesday were based on its test results released to patients within the last three days, while the late cases recorded were based on the test results released to patients four days ago or more.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 299 additional recoveries and nine new fatalities due to COVID-19. This brought the total number of recoveries to 8,442 and total fatalities to 1,186.
