“Hindi cool ang ‘PM sent’ sa online selling,” according to DTI.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) reminded online sellers in the Philippines that it’s not cool to say “PM sent” in online selling.
This, as the regional office of the Department of Trade and Industry in Sultan Kudarat posted a meme on its Facebook page along with a reminder to online sellers in the country.
A lot of online sellers used this technique in order to improve their online business. With this, online sellers opted to hide the retail price of a certain product in order to trigger their potential customers’ curiosity, as such, online sellers would tell its potential customers via private message or PM every time their customers would ask for the price. Also, this technique would give the seller an opportunity to identify if their customers were interested in the said product.
Aside from improving their online business, hiding of retail price for the said product would also help in protecting the integrity of their potential resellers who opted to sell products at a markup price.
However, citing the Republic Act 7394 or the Consumer Act of the Philippines, the DTI reminded the public that it was unlawful to sell any product to an online market without a corresponding price tag. The DTI then advised that online sellers that they should have a “smooth” transaction by placing the price tag for their products they wanted to sell online.
