DOJ Reports First Case Of Coronavirus Disease

DOJ had reported its first case of coronavirus disease.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Tuesday had reported its first case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among its employees.

This, as Markk Perete, the Undersecretary of the Department of Justice, said that one of their employees was tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the rapid test and also tested positive in a confirmatory test. Perete also said that the said employee was asymptomatic.

As of Monday, the Philippines reported 490 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 26,420.

In a report on GMA News Online, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said that 68 out of 536 employees at the main office of the Department of Justice in Metro Manila was tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) via rapid testing as of June 14.

Aside from 68 employees, Guevarra added that four of DOJ’s outsourced personnel were also tested positive for COVID-19 via rapid testing, bringing the total number of possible cases of COVID-19 in the Department of Justice to 72 as of June 14.

As per the report, Guevarra on Sunday said that many of them immediately underwent swab tests in different government and private hospitals, adding that they’re waiting for the results of these tests.
