Pope Francis Promoted Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle To Cardinal-Bishop rank.
Pope Francis on Friday promoted Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle to the highest title of a Cardinal in the Catholic Church, the Cardinal-Bishop.
This, as the Vatican press on Friday officially announced the said promotion, adding that the Pope also promoted Italian Cardinal Benjamin Stella to cardinal-bishop.
Aside from Cardinal Tagle, Pope Francis appointed Bishop Broderick Pabillo as the “Apostolic Administrator” of the Archdiocese of Manila.
As per the report, the promotion of Cardinal Benjamin Stella and Cardinal Tagle was a “signal” that they would be ” tone-setting figures” when the final vision of the crucial reform of the Pope would come out with the publication of the Pope’s “new constitution”.
Left Manila Archbishop For Rome
Previously, Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle left his position as the Archbishop of Manila last February as he was appointed by Pope Francis as the Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle took the position of Italian Cardinal Fernando Filoni, who served as the Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples from 2011 to 2019 and was the second Asian Cardinal to hold the said title after Cardinal Ivan Dias who served from 2006 to 2011.
About the College of Cardinals
The College of Cardinals, according to a Vatican press, was composed of three different ranks: cardinal deacons, cardinal priests, and cardinal bishops.
