Customers Appealed To Maynilad To Pay Water Bills In Installments Amidst ECQ

Customers in Metro Manila had requested Maynilad to allow them to pay their water bills in installments while the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) was still implemented in the area.

As reported on GMA Network’s “24 Oras”, customers were worried about their water consumption as Maynilad has yet to read meters.

Maynilad previously gave a month-long extension for its customers to pay their water bills, however, customers had the option to pay heir water bills based on the average water consumption in the previous months.

According to Engr. Ronaldo Padua, the head of water supply operations in Maynilad, the mobility of the company’s employees in the field was “very limited”, as such, they agreed with their regulatory office on their system.

Although Maynilad has yet to address the request for payment in installments, the company, as per the report, assured its customers that they will not execute water disconnection during the enhanced community quarantine.

Meanwhile, Manila Water advised its customers to store enough water in order to supply their needs during any service improvement activity; and once done, customers will conduct flushing by letting the water flow out of their taps once water service was restored.

Previously, Sevillo David Jr., the executive director of the National Water Resources Board (NWRB), said that the water supply in Metro Manila was still sufficient for May and June 2020.
