Jaya: Tagged as the ‘most bashed’ hurado in Tawag ng Tanghalan (TNT) on ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime
María Luisa Ramsey Kagahastian-Gotidoc or popularly known as Jaya issued a statement after being tagged as the “most bashed” hurado in Tawag ng Tanghalan (TNT).
The 50-year-old singer is a hurado (judge) in TNT, a singing competition on ABS-CBN noontime show, “It’s Showtime.”
Meanwhile, in an interview with RX 93.1 FM station via Facebook Live, the Queen of Soul shared that she did not expected to gain massive criticism after she became one of the hurados of the singing competition.
She shared that she ‘accepted the offer right away’ of becoming a hurado, which mark as her first regular stint on ABS-CBN, after being an artist of GMA-7 for 16 years.
“Akala ko madali lang siya. I was, like, the most bashed… I am the most bashed hurado. I’m not mean. I’m very honest.”
In an article published by pep.ph, Jaya also gave a remark after being named as “terror hurado.”
This might be due to the February 14, 2018 (Valentine’s Day) episode of the noontime show wherein she gonged three contestants at the time.
The episode gained bash statements and even made her in the top trending topics on Twitter.
One of the mechanics in the said competition is when the contestant gained three strikes (signal), the main hurado is opted to signal whoever assigned to strike the gong and eventually stop the performance of the latter.
Aside from that is during the semifinals round last May 2018.
It was then she gained comments from the netizens on top of the clash between contenders Ato Arman and Alla Santos.
Jaya made it to the trending topics anew when supporters of Santos backlash Jaya after choosing Arman.
The singing icon was absent in the program the following day after claiming that she was affected by the bash statement from the netizens.
But comedian Vice Ganda came to her rescue and defended her against the bashers.
