“Revoke 230!” according to US President Donald Trump.
US President Donald Trump posted on his Twitter account seeking to revoke Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act by the US Congress.
This, after Twitter added warning labels to his previous “shooting starts” tweet that allegedly “glorifying violence”.
According to Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, online intermediaries that provide or republish speech were protected against a range of laws that would be used in order to hold them legally responsible for what other people say or do.
In a report on ABS-CBN News, revoking Section 230 of the said act would not only expose Twitter and other online platforms to “expansive potential legal vulnerability” that can lessen the effectiveness of the fundamentals of their businesses, but also remove the “very legal standard” that had allowed Donald Trump to use Twitter.
In that way, Donald Trump can effectively communicate with over 80 million followers. However, Twitter and other online companies will be forced to police accounts — including Trump’s account — even more closely to guard themselves against legal action.
United States President Donald Trump was seeking to “revoke 230” by Congress just because Twitter, according to Trump, had targeted Republicans, Conservatives, and the President of the United States, adding that online platforms would be regulated.

Despite his call to “revoke 230”, netizens, instead, were seeking to “remove 45”, which means, removing Trump from his office as the President of the United States.
