26 construction workers in Occidental Mindoro tested positive for COVID-19
26 out of 51 construction workers were tested positive for coronavirus disease or COVID-19 in Occidental Mindoro.
On Friday night, the Occidental Mindoro COVID-19 Task Force announced via its official Facebook page that 26 construction workers who are working in an ongoing Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) project in Magsaysay tested positive.
“[Twenty-six] out of 51 construction workers in an ongoing DPWH project located in Magsaysay tested positive for COVID-19,” noted the announcement.
According to Inquirer.net, the construction workers were examined as part of the safety protocol upon their return to work. The construction workers who were tested positive from COVID-19 are now under isolation.
The results of their reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) which yielded positive were accumulated by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) from the Philippine Red Cross.
The PHO has already conducted contact tracing and the construction workers will undergo a repeat swab testing after a 14-day quarantine.
As of posting, the province of Occidental Mindoro has recorded 36 COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health recorded 1,046 additional cases of COVID-19 on Friday night, May 29, 2020, bringing it to the total number of 16,634 cases.
The country’s health department noted 21 additional deaths, for a total of 942 while there are 122 new recoveries resulting in a total of 3,720 recoveries.
