Coronavirus Cases in Cebu City Include 16 Cops, 5 Others in Police Station
COPS – Sixteen (16) policemen and five (5) others in a police station in Cebu City tested positive for coronavirus or COVID-19.
One of the cities in the Philippines with confirmed cases of coronavirus is Cebu City. In fact, it has the highest number of COVID-19 cases counting 1,571 total cases as of May 10.
Areas in Cebu city were previously put under lockdown following a spike in the cases. Barangay Luz was locked as it was considered infected by the Department of Health (DOH).
Currently, Cebu City is one of the cities under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). The movement of the people has to be limited to prevent the spread of the infection.
Recently, new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Cebu City. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, 16 cops and 5 others in a police station in the city tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Central Visayas Police Regional Director Ignatius Ferro, the 5 others who tested positive in Police Station 6 include three (3) non-uniformed personnel and two (2) “errand boys”.
Based on the report, Ferro suspects that the spread of COVID-19 in the Police Station began with two (2) drug suspects who later on turned positive for the disease. A total of 59 people in the police station were tested and 21 of them are positive.
Currently, the remaining 38 personnel are quarantined inside the police station. They are taking turns for duty every twelve (12) hours and they are not allowed to go home after it. They stay at the isolation center to rest for 12 hours before their next duty.
