Senator Angara Files Reso Discouraging Handshaking Amid Coronavirus

In order to curb the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19, Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara filed a resolution that would discourage people from handshaking in public.

This, as Senator Sonny Angara filed Senate Resolution No. 374 last Monday, April 27, 2020, and shared a copy of the said resolution to the reporters on Wednesday, April 29, 2020.

The said resolution, according to Angara, was aimed to discourage handshaking in public. It also aimed to promote hand hygiene in order to minimize the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 and other infectious diseases, viruses, and bacteria as well.

Senator Angara filed Senate Resolution No. 374 or also known as “Expressing The Sense Of The Senate To Discourage Handshaking As It Poses Danger In Health And Can Escalate The Spread Of Virus And Germs”.

The said resolution came as the Philippines strictly implemented the social distancing in order to lessen the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19. Furthermore, the World Health Organization (WHO) advised the public to observe a one-meter distance.

The Philippines reported a total of 7,958 confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 as of April 28, 2020, with 975 total recoveries and 530 fatalities.
