Mayor Jerry Treñas Reacts To Criticisms Over COVID-19 Patient Being Allowed to Fly Back to Iloilo
Mayor Jerry Treñas explained why a patient of COVID-19 was allowed to fly from Metro Manila to Iloilo City.
One of the cities in the Philippines affected by the coronavirus or COVID-19 is Iloilo City. A lockdown was implemented in the city amid the increasing cases of the disease.
The movement of the people in the city is also limited as it is one of the essential measures to curb the spread of the infection. The people are advised to stay at home amid the crisis.
However, recently,Mayor Jerry Treñas confirmed that the 7th case of COVID-19 is a patient who was allowed to fly from Manila to Iloilo. The patient traveled through a private chopper.
The said incident gained criticisms from the people. Mayor Jerry Treñas broke his silence and explained why the COVID-19 patient was allowed to fly from Manila to Iloilo.
In a Facebook post, the City Mayor expressed that he and the COVID-19 task force initially disagreed with the idea. A patient wanted to fly through a private chopper from Metro Manila.
However, they allowed the person as they asked the patient to bring the RCA extraction kits needed in the city. According to the Mayor, a charter flight will cost the local government much.
Mayor Treñas assured that the COVID-19 patient who was allowed to fly from Metro Manila to Iloilo is in a strict home quarantine now. The patient is asymptomatic. Here is the full Facebook post of the City Mayor:
