US Sailor Aboard Warship Has Tested Positive For Coronavirus Disease Or COVID-19 For The First Time.

A US sailor aboard a warship has tested positive for coronavirus disease or COVID-19 for the first time, as announced by the US Navy.

This, as the US Navy said that the sailor was quarantined at home and that personnel who had been in contact with the sailor have been notified and were in self-isolation.

In a statement, the US Navy said that none of them was aboard the warship, adding that the US Navy ships “conduct routine, daily cleanliness procedures geared toward health, wellness and the prevention of communicable disease spread.”

The US sailor, according to the US Navy, had been assigned to the USS Boxer. However, a US official said that the said ship was in port, a substantially less risky situation than being underway at sea.

In addition, the US Navy said that the USS Boxer was conducting a thorough cleaning, according to specific guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Navy-Marine Corps Public Health Center, adding that the military was also conducting contact tracing in order to determine whether anyone else may have been in contact with an infected sailor.

The US Navy also said that the additional mitigations may be taken “depending on the results of that investigation.”
