Professor & Former Dean of UP Diliman Dies of COVID-19
UP DILIMAN – The university confirmed that its professor and former dean, Dr. Aileen Baviera, died of severe pneumonia due to COVID-19.
The confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Philippines is growing for several days now. Currently, according to the Department of Health (DOH), there is a total of 230 cases of COVID-19 in the country.
Out the 230 confirmed cases, eight (8) patients have already recovered from coronavirus infection while eighteen (18) people died of the disease during the treatment.
Recently, another patient of coronavirus died. She is an educator in the University of the Philippines (UP).
Based on Manila Bulletin News, UP Diliman confirmed that Dr. Aileen Baviera, a professor in the university and the former dean of UP Asian Center, died of severe pneumonia caused by COVID-19.
Based on the post, Dr.Baviera, “one of the country’s foremost sinologists”, died at 3:55 in the morning today, March 21, 2020. She was admitted and expired at San Lazaro Hospital.
