Euro 2020, which was scheduled for June and July this year, has been postponed until 2021, according to UEFA.
UEFA, the European football’s governing body, said that Euro 2020, which was scheduled for June and July this year, has been postponed until 2021.
This, as UEFA said that the new proposed dates for the said tournament were June 11 to July 11 next year, as Euro becomes Euro 2021 due to coronavirus pandemic, adding that the postponement “will help all domestic competitions, currently on hold due to the COVID-19 emergency, to be completed.”
The announcement came after UEFA held crisis talks with its national associations as well as clubs and players bodies through a video conference.
In a statement, it said that the health of all those involved in the said game was the body’s priority as well as “to avoid placing any unnecessary pressure on national public services involved in staging matches.”
