PSE on Monday announced the suspension of stock trading starting March 17.
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) on Monday officially announced that it will suspend stock trading starting March 17, 2020.
This, following the implementation of enhanced community quarantine in Luzon as announced by the Philippine government. The Philippine Stock Exchange, in a post on its official Facebook page, stated:
“There will be no trading at the PSE and no clearing and settlement at the SCCP starting tomorrow, March 17, 2020, until further notice, due to the enhanced community quarantine implemented in Luzon.“
A copy of the memorandum was also posted on its page at the end of the trading day, March 16, 2020. PSE provided a link where a copy of the memorandum was presented.
PSE has yet to announce the schedule of re-opening the stock trading, yet it would coincide with the quarantine period ending April 14, 2020, thus, the PSEi closed at 5,335.37 points which lowered by 458.57 points or 7.92% for the day. The said index was at a 52-week high of 8,419.59 points.
