Update on Italy Coronavirus Death Toll
ITALY CORONAVIRUS DEATH TOLL – The total of number deaths in Italy due to the 2019 novel coronavirus rose again.
Italy is one of the countries hardly hit by the 2019 novel coronavirus or COVID-19 that has, undeniably, shaken the world. Italy is now under a total lock-down following the orders of Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte.
Previously, Conte expressed that the results of the efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus may be seen in the next few weeks. The Prime Minister also ordered the businesses, apart from food stores, pharmacies, and essential firms, to shut down temporarily.
Initially, the lock-down only covered the northern part of Italy. The Lombardy region and 14 other provinces were under travel restrictions. However, the coronavirus cases in the country still continued to increase.
Recently, the Italy coronavirus death toll rose again by 23% in 24 hours. Based on a report on Al Jazeera, 189 people died of COVID-19 in just 24 hours bringing the total to 1,016.
With regards to the confirmed coronavirus cases in the country, from 12,462, it rose to 15,113 based on the report. A 21.7% increase on the cases was noted.
Globally, the COVID-19 has infected more than 126,000 people in the different countries across the globe. Over 4,613 people died of the disease. Most deaths and infections were recorded in China, the epicenter of the virus.
