DOH Recommends State of Public Health Emergency Declaration
DOH – The Department of Health suggested the declaration of the state of public health emergency.
Recently, the Philippines got new confirmed cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus or officially called as COVID-19. The confirmed cases now are six (6).
Three (3) of these patients were Chinese nationals. One of them (1), a 44-year-old Chinese man, died of coronavirus while he was being treated at San Lazaro Hospital.
The two (2) other Chinese who tested positive for the disease, one of them is the partner of the Chinese man who died, recovered from the disease. They were already discharged from the hospitals were they were admitted.
Yesterday, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III confirmed two (2) new cases of coronavirus in the Philippines. Both patients are Filipinos – one aging 48 years old while the other is 62 years old.
The wife of the 62-year-old man also recently tested positive for COVID-19. She is the 6th case of the disease in the country. The 5th coronavirus case confirmed the local transmission of the disease in PH.
Amid the increasing cases of coronavirus in the Philippines, based on a report n ABS-CBN News, the DOH suggested to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to declare a state of public health emergency.
According to Health Sec. Duque, it is a call to healthcare providers to prepare for the possible increase of the cases of coronavirus in the country. Based on the report, it will also prepare the supplies.
“Facilitate mobilization of resources, eased processes, including procurement of critical logistics and supplies, and intensifying reporting and quarantine measures (on the declaration),” Duque expressed.
On the part of Malacañang, it previously assured that Philippines is ready. Also, the Palace stressed that there is no need to panic.
