Update on the Coronavirus Death Toll in Italy
CORONAVIRUS DEATH TOLL IN ITALY – The number of deaths in Italy due to coronavirus increased greatly in just 24 hours.
One of the countries greatly affected by the 2019 novel coronavirus or COVID-19 is Italy. Its infected cases and death toll continuously increase prompting the authorities to put Italy under a total lockdown.
Initially, the travel restrictions were only imposed on the northern part of the country. However, the number of cases kept on increasing and Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte decided to extend the lockdown.
Currently, Italy is fighting a huge battle against the COVID-19. Based on a report on Al Jazeer, the coronavirus death toll in Italy greatly increased by 196 in just 24 hours bringing the total to 827.
Through a televised addressed to the public, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced the closure of all shops in the country with exemptions. Only supermarkets, food stores, chemist companies, and essential departments may operate.
Based on the report, the Prime Minister expressed that the result of lockdown may be seen in a couple of weeks. The order is until March 25.
Conte called out to his 60 million constituents to be responsible in “making small and large sacrifices every day”. He expressed his gratitude to the public for all the efforts.
