Update on the Coronavirus Cased in the Philippines
CORONAVIRUS CASES IN PHILIPPINES – The Department of Health (DOH) recorded a new case of the 2019 novel coronavirus in the country.
The Philippines is one of the countries with confirmed cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus. It was in PH where the first death case outside China due to the said disease was recorded.
Previously, the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines was at three (3). All the patients were Chinese nationals including the 44-year-old Chinese man who died during the treatment.
The other two (2) Chinese nationals who tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered from the disease. For several weeks, the country was free from confirmed cases of COVID-19.
However, yesterday, new cases of coronavirus in PH were confirmed by the Department of Health (DOH). Two (2) Filipinos tested positive for the said disease that held China under an outbreak.
According to DOH, the patients were a 48-year-old man who has a travel history to Japan and a 62-year-old man with no travel history. The 5th COVID-19 case sparked possibilities of local transmission.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the DOH recently confirmed local transmission with the 5th case of COVID-19. Also, the coronavirus cases in the Philippines increased as the wife of the man tested positive for the disease.
According to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, the man is suffering from severe pneumonia now. Based on the report, he and his wife are admitted at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine in Muntinlupa City.
Also, the DOH raised the alert to Code Red. It prompts all hospital personnel to report for duty.
