2 GSIS Employees Test Positive for 2019 Novel Coronavirus
GSIS EMPLOYEES – Two (2) employees of the Government Service Insurance System tested positive for the 2019 novel coronavirus.
The Philippines is now racing against time to prevent the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus which has hit several nations across the globe. The infection can rapidly spread and that is what the authorities are trying to prevent.
To contain the spread of COVID-19, certain measures are being implemented now. Several cities and municipalities are under quarantine – the point of entries are strictly guarded.
The entire Luzon is currently under an enhanced community quarantine. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has already declared a state of calamity in the whole Philippines.
Currently, there are 202 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country. The death toll is 17. Classes are suspended not only in Luzon but as well as in other regions now and some businesses have also suspended work.
Even the operation of the Government Service Insurance System is affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, two (2) GSIS employees tested positive for the 2019 coronavirus.
According to GSIS General Manager Rolando Macasaet, the latest coronavirus patient is under their home office in Pasay City. The said male employees is now admitted in Las Pinas General Hospital based on the report.
The first GSIS employee that tested positive for COVID-19 is a woman who had a travel history to Japan. She is now admitted in San Juan de Dios Hospital.
Following two (2) GSIS employees testing positive for coronavirus, Macasaet ordered a”lockdown of all branch offices across the country”. It is for the safety of the staff and as well as the clients most especially the pensioners.
