Authorities Confirm Teacher in Japan Tested Positive for Coronavirus
TEACHER IN JAPAN – A junior high school educator in Japan is one of the new confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country.
Japan is one of the countries that are greatly affected by the 2019 novel coronavirus. The said disease first sprang in China – specifically in the city of Wuhan in Hubei province.
Now, Wuhan is under a lock-down after the disease infected more than 60,000 people in China and took the lives of at least 1,200 people. The virus targets the respiratory system and it is speculated to have stemmed from bats.
The novel coronavirus is now a global concern. In Japan, a cruise ship was quarantined after one (1) of its passengers who has already disembarked the ship tested positive for the disease.
For fourteen (14) days, no one from the passengers and the crew of Diamond Princess was allowed to leave the cruise ship. However, the number of cases continued to grow despite the effort to curb the spread of the disease.
More than 600 people inside the cruise ship tested positive for coronavirus. They were brought to the local hospitals in Japan for the treatment.
Recently, another cases have added to the confirmed coronavirus cases in Japan. Based on a report on GMA News, there are four (4) new patients being treated now.
One of the patients is a junior high school teacher in Japan. The 60-year-old woman was confined in the hospital in February 19 only but she was already exhibiting symptoms of coronavirus since February 12.
Based on the report, the teacher in Japan who tested positive for coronavirus has reported to work while showing symptoms. In line with it, the local government of Chiba prefecture in east Tokyo decided to cancel the classes for two (2) days.
The other newly confirmed case of coronavirus in Japan is also in Chiba prefecture but there are no links between her and the educator. Reportedly, the other two (2) cases are men who are in their 50s and 60s in Kumamoto prefecture.
