Suspected Coronavirus Case in the Philippines Increases

SUSPECTED CORONAVIRUS CASE IN PHILIPPINES – The Department of Health (DOH) revealed the latest count of the suspected nCoV cases in the Philippines.

Several countries across the globe now are on tight watch against the 2019 novel coronavirus that initially hit China. There are already lots of confirmed cases outside the epicenter of the disease.

The nCoV was first recorded in Wuhan City in China. Currently, the city is under a lock-down after around 8,000 people were infected and at least 425 died.

The United States, the Philippines, Hong Kong, India, Sri Lanka, France, Japan, and Nepal are among the countries with confirmed cases of coronavirus. Most patients got travel history to Wuhan.

Suspected Coronavirus Cases in Philippines

The first coronavirus death case outside China was recorded in the Philippines. The patient is a 44-year-old Chinese man who came from Wuhan City. He is the partner of the 38-year-old Chinese woman who was the first confirmed case of coronavirus in the country.

Currently, there are three (3) confirmed cases of nCoV in the Philippines including the Chinese man who died. Several people are also under investigation for suspected nCoV infection.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the latest count of the suspected coronavirus cases in the Philippines is at 133 as per the Department of Health (DOH). According to Undersecretary Eric Domingo, 115 of the persons under investigation (PUIs) are confined in hospitals.

Also, the DOH Undersecretary expressed that the 115 PUIs are isolated. Based on the report, a total of 16 people suspected for nCoV have already been discharged from the hospital but are under “strict monitoring”.

Reportedly, 63 people of those that are being monitored are Filipinos and 54 are Chinese. The other 16 people are of other nationalities.
