Coronavirus Patients in Iran Include Iran Vice President Masoumeh Ebtekar
IRAN VICE PRESIDENT – Masoumeh Ebtekar, the VP for Women and Family Affairs in Iran was confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus.
The world continues to battle against the 2019 novel coronavirus which has spread in several countries across the globe. First recorded in China, the said disease has infected more than 60,000 people in mainland China.
The coronavirus death toll also continues to increase. The said disease which has left Wuhan City, China under a lock-down has taken the lives of at least 1,200 people now.
Several countries also got confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus. In fact, many are now strictly monitored for a possible outbreak next to China.
One of the countries that is affected by the novel coronavirus infection is Iran. Previously, a doctor in Iran tested positive for coronavirus. At least 245 were infected now and 26 have died of the disease.
Not only a doctor in Iran but as well as some government officials in the country were also infected by the coronavirus. Based on a report on The New York Times, seven (7) officials have contracted the virus.
One of the recently-confirmed coronavirus-positive is an Iran Vice President – Masoumeh Ebtekar. She is the country’s VP for Women and Family Affairs.
Based on the report, prior to the confirmation that the said Iran Vice President is positive for coronavirus, she has attended a cabinet meeting with some other government officials. She was in close contact with President Hassan Rouhani.
According to her deputy, the Vice President is now undergoing a home-quarantine. She is the highest-ranking woman in the Iranian government.
