Baby in China Detected w/ Coronavirus

BABY IN CHINA – A newborn baby in Wuhan City tested positive for the 2019 novel coronavirus 30 hours after birth.

The 2019 novel coronavirus has put thousands of lives at risk in China. Around 8,000 people were infected by the nCoV and it has taken away at least 420 lives.

It is speculated that the nCoV came from bat soup served in a market in Wuhan City, the epicenter of the virus. The disease bears symptoms similar to the health signs of flu.

Wuhan City is now under a lock-down. Several countries have also repatriated their citizens from China. There were also confirmed cases in several countries outside China.

Recently, a heartbreaking update regarding the 2019 novel coronavirus crossed the surface. A baby in China tested positive for coronavirus 30 hours after the birth.

Based on a report on Business Insider, the mother of the infant is positive for nCoV. Speaking to Business Insider, Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health epidemiologist Stephen Morse expressed that the baby more likely caught the virus after birth.

“It’s more likely that the baby contracted the virus from the hospital environment, the same way the healthcare workers get infected by the patients they treat,” Morse expressed based on the report.

The baby in China who tested positive for coronavirus 30 hours after birth is the youngest nCoV patient now. A huge part of the patients are adults and seniors.
