Three more people on Japan cruise ship have 2019-nCoV, says Japanese government.
The Japanese government on Saturday said that three more people onboard a Diamond Princess cruise ship off Japan’s coast have tested positive for the 2019 novel coronavirus.
This, as 61 people on board were previously tested positive for the 2019 novel coronavirus. The new cases of 2019 novel coronavirus raised to 64 people on the Diamond Princess cruise ship so far.
In a statement, the ministry said that the three people who were tested positive for the 2019-nCoV have already sent to the hospital. This, after the test results from six more people were released on Saturday, with three of them confirmed infected.
The World Health Organization (WHO) called on Tokyo to provide sufficient support for the passengers and patients. Michael Ryan, head of the WHO’s Health Emergencies Programme, said that people must be careful not to overreact as this was “a very close community living in very close quarters.”
As of this writing, more than 20 countries already have confirmed cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus that killed more than 720 people and infected more than 34,000 in China.
