Another Patient Monitored For Suspected Coronavirus Case in Bacolod-Negros Occidental

SUSPECTED CORONAVIRUS CASE IN BACOLOD – Another patient is now monitored in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental over possible novel coronavirus infection.

The outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus in China has reached several countries now. Among those with confirmed cases are the Philippines, Hong Kong, United States, Japan, and France.

The first coronavirus death case outside China was recorded in the Philippines. The patient was a Chinese man from Wuhan City, the epicenter of the disease.

The 44-year-old man came from Hong Kong together with a Chinese woman. His companion was the first confirmed case of coronavirus in the Philippines.

The pair was admitted at San Lazaro Hospital in Manila. Last Sunday, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that the Chinese man died – he was the first death case outside China.

Suspected Coronavirus Case in Bacolod-Negros

Recently, several areas in the Philippines have recorded suspected coronavirus cases in their vicinity. One of them is Bacolod City in Negros Occidental.

Negros Occidental Provincial Governor Eugenio “Bong” Lacson confirmed yesterday that there are two (2) suspected cases of coronavirus in Bacolod City. One of the patients is a foreigner while the other is a Filipino.

Both the foreigner, a Canadian national, and the Filipino who has a travel history to Hong Kong are admitted at the regional hospital in the city. Their specimens have already been sent for checking and the results are expected today and tomorrow.

Recently, an update was posted on the Facebook page of DYHB Tatak RMN. Another suspected coronavirus case in Bacolod-Negros was recorded.

According to Bacolod City Vice Mayor Elcid Familiaran, the third patient under investigation (PUI) is also admitted at the regional hospital. She is a 58-year-old Filipina who came from Hong Kong. The admission took place on February 3.
