Mahendra Shrestha, a Health Ministry spokesperson, told Reuters that a Nepali student was tested positive for China coronavirus. Mahendra said that the patient was studying in China.

A ministry of health said in a statement that a Nepali student had come home on holiday from Wuhan in China. A Nepali student was being kept under surveillance as well as those in close contact with a student were being investigated.

The ministry added that it was looking for health information from all passengers that were traveling from China to Nepal.

The airport in Wuhan, which was the epicenter of China coronavirus, was closed on January 23.

To date, Nepal was the seventh country to confirm a case of China coronavirus. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the director general of the World Health Organization, said in a press conference in Geneva that the outbreak of coronavirus was “an emergency in China” and there was “no evidence” of person-to-person transmission outside China, yet Tedros said that it “doesn’t mean it won’t happen.”
