DOH Performs Backtracking on Chinese Patient Who’s Positive for Coronavirus in PH
CORONAVIRUS IN PH – The Department of Health (DOH) is tracing those people who were in contact with the Chinese patient that is positive for coronavirus in the Philippines.
Yesterday, an alarming news that took the social media by storm crossed the surface. The DOH confirmed the first case of coronavirus in the Philippines.
According to the health department, the patient is a 38-year-old woman who came from Wuhan City, China. It is the epicenter of the 2019 novel coronavirus which is rampant in China now.
The novel coronavirus which bears symptoms similar to flu like fever, cough, and shortness of breath, is speculated to have stemmed from the bat soup served in Wuhan. It has yet to be confirmed.
Currently, more than seven (7) thousand people in China are infected by the coronavirus or nCoV. More than 160 people died due to it.
With regards to the presence of coronavirus in PH, the patient came to the country from Hong Kong. She was from Wuhan who took a flight to Hong Kong and then to the Philippines. She visited certain places in the country before she got confined in the hospital.
The 38-year-old Chinese woman visited Cebu and Dumaguete before the coronavirus in PH was confirmed. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the DOH is now tracing the people who were in contact with the patient.
She is currently confined in a hospital in Manila. According to Health Secretary Francisco Duque, the patient is showing no symptoms now. He assured that the DOH is implementing the measures to curb the spread of the disease.
