DOH Issues Statement on Test Results of Foreigner in Camiguin Amid Coronavirus Issue
CORONAVIRUS – The Department of Health (DOH) released the results of the test of the sick foreigner in Camiguin.
Currently, the health department in the Philippines and other authorities are on tight guard amid the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in China. It was first recorded in Wuhan City.
It is suspected that the said highly-contagious disease bears the symptoms of a flu. A person may experience fever, cough, and breathing difficulties. A bat soup is suspected as the cause of the disease.
The outbreak has reached several other countries. There were already confirmed cases in Japan, Hong Kong, United States, and Nepal.
In the Philippines, there are suspected cases of coronavirus. At least ten (10) people are currently under observation as confirmed by the Department of Health.
Recently, the DOH released the results of the test conducted on a sick foreigner in Camiguin. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the person tested negative for the 2019 novel coronavirus.
The patient experiences fever, colds, and cough. Based on the report, the patient came from Wuhan, China and flew to Camiguin for a vacation.
According to Communicable Disease DOH-10’s Dr. Ian Gonzales, there is no need for the patient to undergo a confirmatory test. He expressed that the said test is only conducted for those who tested positive on the first test.
“No need for confirmatory test. Kaya cleared na namin siya at discharged na sa hospital,” he said.
