This is a look back to the life and death of Pepsi Paloma, one of the Softdrink Beauties
Pepsi Paloma was one of the Softdrink Beauties who became popular during the 80s and here is a look back to her life and death.
Born Delia Dueñas Smith, Pepsi found a place in showbiz when she was launched along with Coca Nicolas and Sarsi Emmanuelle. At the age of 14, she became a breadwinner to her four siblings as their father abandoned them. Pepsi starred in several movies during that era.
Her career in showbiz was promising, however, a controversy happened when she accused Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and Richie D’ Horsie of drugging and raping her and fellow actress Guada Guarin. It was also alleged that actor and now-Senator Tito Sotto forced her to retract her rape complaint against the three actors. Then, he presented an Affidavit of Desistance and obtained the signature of Pepsi. However, there were rumors that her mother was the one who signed the paper on her behalf.
Reportedly, Pepsi agreed to drop the case in exchange for a public apology, based on the article from Esquire. It was said that Vic, Joey, and Richie apologized on national television while kneeling.

It was said that she pointed out her financial problem and her bad relationship with her mother and boyfriend as the reason. However, her manager belied this as Pepsi was earning well at that time. She was 17 when she died. The controversy might have been forgotten and just silenced but it was said that the legend of Pepsi Paloma was immortalized in the song Spolarium of Eraserheads.
