Claudia Zobel: Remembering the Life of the Late 80s Daring Actress

Remember Claudia Zobel? This was the life of the former daring actress

This is a recollection of the life and death of Claudia Zobel, one of the daring actresses who became famous during the 80s.

During that era, daring or titillating films were in a boom. Several daring actresses became popular during that time and one of them was Claudia but she was Thelma C. Maloloy-on in real life.

She started her career through the movie Shame which was released in 1983. After that, based on the article from spot.ph, she continued doing films in the same genre such as Magdalena Buong Magdamag, Uhaw sa Pag-ibig, and Sinner or Saint.

Reportedly, her seductive looks contributed to the success of her daring movies, aside from her physique. After doing several flesh flicks on the big screen, Claudia Zobel was groomed to be a serious actress. She was included in Lino Brocka’s film titled Bayan Ko: Kapit sa Patalim.

However, an unfortunate thing happened. She was not able to finish shooting for the said movie because she died in a car accident in 1984. Reports stated that her character was just killed off and actress Carmi Martin replaced her to be the love interest of Phillip Salvador in the movie.

29 years after her death, based on the article from Inquirer, her body remained intact. In 2013, the relatives of the late daring actress opened her coffin with the expectation that they will see bones only.

However, they were shocked when the dead body of Claudia was still almost intact. Her relatives wanted to transfer her remains and have them buried with their late father.

Based on the report, Renan Cimafranca, chief of the Department of Health Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit explained that “when the casket is properly sealed, only a small volume of air can enter resulting in lesser pathogens or bacteria that slows the decomposition of the body.”
