President Bongbong Marcos has issued an EO renaming PCOO to the Office Of Press Secretary (OPS)
BONGBONG MARCOS — The President has issued an executive order renaming the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) to the Office of Press Secretary (OPS), as well as abolishing the Office of the Presidential Spokesperson.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. issued two EOs signed by Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez. The EOs are dated June 30 but were only obtained by the media on July 7.
In the first EO, the President ordered the abolition of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) and the Office of the Cabinet Secretary.

Under the President’s first EO, the powers and functions of the PACC shall be transferred to the Office of the Deputy Executive Secretary for Legal Affairs. The said EO also places the secretariat of the Office of the Cabinet Secretary under the control and supervision of the Presidential Management Staff (PMS).
While the President’s first EO dismantled two offices, it created the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Military and Police Affairs, which shall be under the administration of the Special Assistant to the President (SAP).

In the second EO, the President ordered the abolition of the Office of the Presidential Spokesperson and the renaming of the Presidential Communications Operations Office to the Office of Press Secretary.
Likewise, the said EO abolishes the Office of the Presidential Spokesperson, previously occupied by former Palace spokesman Harry Roque under the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

President Bongbong Marcos earlier appointed Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles as press secretary. She has so far conducted several press briefings, but she earlier said that she’s a “press secretary” and not the spokesperson of the President.
