Amid rallies of UP students and academic walkout calls, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy is in favor of closing the state university
PASTOR APOLLO QUIBOLOY – The controversial religious leader is in favor of shutting down the University of the Philippines (UP).
Quiboloy is a pastor of the Philippines-based Restorationist church called the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
He has made claims that he is “The Appointed Son of God” as well as being “The Owner of the Universe.”
Quiboloy was a member of the United Pentecostal Church, a Oneness Pentecostal denomination until he established the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
The members of the congregation refer to their community as a “Kingdom Nation.” They claim about 2 million “Kingdom citizens” abroad and 4 million in the Philippines.
His ministry has a global television channel, the Sonshine Media Network International, and 17 radio stations in the Philippines. It also has two newspapers, Pinas and Sikat.
He made headlines earlier this year when the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the US released a wanted poster of him and two officials of KOJC namely Helen Panilag, and Teresita Tolibas Dandan.
Quiboloy and others are up for trial next year.

Quiboloy made the pronouncement following rallies organized by some UP students due to the results of the May 9 elections.
Earlier, the UP Office of the Student Regent called on the students to walk out of their classes once presumptive president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. takes over as the newest President of the Republic of the Philippines.
