Former Sen. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on President Having Spokesman
BONGBONG MARCOS – The Partido Federal ng Pilipinas standard-bearer said that he will face the media himself if he becomes president.
On May 9, 2022, both local and national elections are set to be held in the Philippines. Based on the official statement from the Commission on Elections (Comelec), 10 candidates for president remain on the official ballot for the upcoming poll.
One of the presidential candidates is former Senator Bongbong Marcos Jr. He is the standard-bearer of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP). Based on the results of the surveys conducted by Pulse Asia, Marcos Jr. is leading the presidential race.
Marcos Jr. tops the surveys despite his known non-attendance to some election-related events such as the debates sponsored by Comelec. His candidacy is also a controversial bid that ignited the issues surrounding Martial Law, his educational background and tax cases, and the alleged ill-gotten wealth of his family.
Recently, former Sen. Bongbong Marcos had an interview with CNN’s Ruth Cabal. During the interview, he spoke about the president having a spokesperson.
According to the former Senator, if he becomes president, he will probably not have a spokesperson. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, he stressed that he will face the media saying that a president can explain anything so he does not understand why is there a need to have a spokesperson.
He expressed that he might have a press secretary to give regular briefings to the media. The statement of the former Senator came amid having a spokesperson for himself, Attorney Vic Rodriguez.
Furthermore, Marcos Jr. also expressed that he did not know why some members of the media are saying that they have a hard time getting interviews with him stressing that he is always out in public. However, based on the report, members of the media covering the UniTeam events have little chance of interviewing the former Senator as he is covered by his security detail, staff members, and supporters.
