Director of photography killed, movie director injured after Alec Baldwin discharged prop firearm on the set of movie
ALEC BALDWIN – The American actor accidentally killed a woman while injuring a man on the set of a movie using a prop gun.
The woman identified as Halyna Hutchins, 42, who was working as director of photography died of her injuries.
She was transported to the hospital via helicopter but pronounced dead by medical personnel at the University of New Mexico Hospital.
On the other hand, Joel Souza, 48, the film’s director accumulated injuries and is now being treated in the hospital. However, details about his condition are yet to be released.
Juan Rios, a spokesman for the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office said that the shooting incident happened in the middle of a scene that was either being rehearsed or filmed.
Hutchins, the woman killed in the incident, was from Ukraine and grew up on a Soviet military base in the Arctic Circle. In 2019, she was named a “rising star” by the American Cinematographer magazine.
Baldwin, who has been in the industry since the 1980s, stars as Harland Rust in the said flick, an outlaw whose 13-year-old grandson is convicted of accidental murder.
Baldwin has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident. The investigation “remains open and active” and no charges have been filed.
Alec Baldwin rose to fame with his titular roles such as in the movies; The Hunt for Red October, Malice, Motherless Brooklyn and to name a few.
He last appeared on TV via the television series, Dr. Death.
