CSC warned government workers against engaging in political activities.
CSC — The Civil Service Commission recently warned government workers against engaging in partisan political activities.
The Civil Service Commission had recently warned that it will impose sanctions on government workers who engaged in partisan political activities in the country.
CSC Commissioner Aileen Lizada cited Joint Circular 001, which was crafted by the Civil Service Commission and the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in 2016 in order to protect employees and officers of the civil service and the armed forces “from the vagaries of politics”.
According to the circular, those who will be found guilty of engaging indirectly or directly in partisan political activities in the country will be meted with the penalty of 1 month and 1 day suspension to 6 months for the 1st offense; and dismissal from the service for the 2nd offense.

The penalty of dismissal was without prejudice to civil or criminal liability, and shall carry with it cancellation of eligibility, perpetual disqualification from holding public office, forfeiture of retirement benefits, and bar from taking civil service examinations.
In an interview on Super Radyo dzBB, Lizada said on Thursday that they have to focus on the efficient discharge of functions and duties.
“Tayo po ay nasa gobyerno we have to focus on the efficient discharge of duties and functions. Let us leave the election season to the politicians,” Lizada said.
Meanwhile, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief PGen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar on Monday reminded all police personnel to refrain from campaigning for or against any political candidate using their social media accounts.
While he’s urging all police personnel to cast their votes as citizens in the 2022 elections, Eleazar said that they must “remain apolitical” in carrying out their mandate as members of the Philippine National Police.
