Senator Lacson on Senate President Sotto’s high rankings in surveys
On Wednesday, Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said that Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III may well be declared as vice president-elect as early as now given his high rankings in different surveys.
Senator Lacson was asked how he intended to improve his current survey rankings after the tandem filed their respective certificates of candidacy (COC) with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
According to the latest Pulse Asia survey, Senator Lacson would only place 7th in the presidential race if the elections were held in early September as he would only bag 7% of the votes.
Senate President Sotto, on the other hand, was the front-runner for the vice-presidential elections, topping the list with 25% of respondents picking him.
Senator Lacson said that their grassroots organizations were already making moves in order to address the concerns, noting also his running mate’s high rankings.
“As we speak, ‘yong aming grassroots recruitment and organization nasa full swing, alam ni Tito Sen ‘yan, katunayan siya parang pinagpala talaga ng langit, parang ngayon pa lang sigurado na, pwede nang magdeklara ng bise presidente ang aking ka-tandem, ang aking ka-partner. Kaya ngayon pa lang kino-congratulate ko na, sabi ko lang sa kanya, ‘wag mo ‘kong pabayaan,” Senator Lacson told reporters.

Turning serious, the senator maintained that their grassroots organizations were working to attract more voters by presenting their platform should they get elected.
Senator Lacson was the latest among the frontrunners to formalize his candidacy for president, joining other big names like former senator Bongbong Marcos, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, and Senator Manny Pacquiao.
Meanwhile, Senate President Sotto joined other candidates like Senator Bong Go in the vice-presidential race.
According to Lacson and Sotto, one of their primary focus would be working to restore the Filipinos’ trust with the government.
