However, there’s no go-signal yet if in-person classes will be conducted in the next school year.

Recently, President Rodrigo Duterte approved the proposal of the education department to open the next school year on Sept. 13 under blended learning.

Duterte turned down earlier proposals from DepEd regarding the conduct of classes citing health concerns due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Aside from that, no vaccine brand may be administered to children yet.

Last year, DepEd implemented blended learning with classes online and printed learning materials.

However, it was marred by errors particularly in self-learning modules as well as unstable internet connections.

Because of this, at least 1 million unenrolled students were recorded in the school year 2020-2021.

The next school year is scheduled to end on June 24, 2022, under DepEd Order No. 029, series of 2021.

A total of 209 school days will be given to students and teachers in adherence to Republic Act No. 7797.

It is mandated under the said law that DepEd must implement a school calendar to not more than 220 class days instead of the previous 200 school days required.

Classes might be conducted on Saturdays due to the “compressed” school year.

On the other hand, Christmas break for the school year 2021-2022 will start on December 20 and classes will resume on the 3rd day of January 2022.

Meanwhile, based on the report of Cebu Daily News, there are 4,557,435 students who have registered for the school year 2021-2022 in Grades 1, 7, and 11 as of June 4.
