It was last Monday when Diaz made history as she ruled the women’s weightlifting 55kg event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. As such, Diaz made the headlines not just in the Philippines but all over the world.
Diaz, who was also Airwoman of the Philippine Air Force, finally put an end to nearly a century-long Olympic gold medal drought since the Philippines first competed in the Olympics in 1924.
