Netizen to Bianca Gonzalez: “Kaya dini discriminate mga babae dahil puro kayo kayo rin mismo ginagawa nyong issue pagiging babae.”
BIANCA GONZALEZ – The TV host was bashed by a netizen for her comment on Hidilyn Diaz’s win at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
A netizen didn’t like Bianca’s statement which seemed to be making a gender-equality issue amid the success of female athletes in the current Olympic Games.
Diaz made history as the first-ever Filipino to bag a gold medal in the Olympics in the recently concluded women’s 55-kg weightlifting event.
The country’s pride finished with a total score of 224 kg defeating China’s Liao Qiuyun.
The 30-year-old weightlifter from Zamboanga ended the near century-long Olympic gold medal drought of the country since it competed in 1924.
Filipinos around the world are celebrating the success of Hidilyn and Bianca Gonzalez was one of those who immediately greeted the so-called weightlifting fairy.
She wrote in a Twitter post: “BABAE!!!!!!!!!!!! ABANTE BABAE!!!!! MABUHAY KA HIDILYN!!!!!”
Aside from that, Bianca also congratulated Filipina featherweight boxer Nesthy Petecio who reached the semifinals of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, “Isa paaaa!!!! ABANTE BABAE!!!!”
Because of this, a netizen scolded Bianca Gonzalez and said that she should have used “Abante Pilipinas.” Such statements are said to be the root of discrimination against women.
“Kaya dini discriminate mga babae dahil puro kayo kayo rin mismo ginagawa nyong issue pagiging babae,” the netizen said.
